A small dog braved the recent aftermath of Hurricane Florence with the help of a floating sofa. Her name is Soshe. She was left stranded in her North Carolina home for an entire week, huddled in a thankfully buoyant enough sofa.
After Hurricane Florence had left North Carolina, authorities immediately went into action. The Disaster Response Team from the Humane Society of Missouri was one of the first groups to take part in the post-calamity rescue efforts. The group went to North Carolina and for a week they did animal rescue.
The team’s rescue efforts led to their witnessing of an astonishing story of survival. In one of the homes the team visited, they met the cute little Maltese dog named Soshe. The dog was alone in the house and was visibly scared.
The dog had survived an entire week huddled on top of her family’s floating sofa.
The rescue video is inspiring to say the least. It shows how good men and women are willing to go out of their way to do good deeds. And these good deeds are not exclusive to their fellow human beings.
These good deeds are directed to animals and pets as well. Soshe was truly a fortunate dog, despite having suffered what she did. She was fortunate enough to live through a devastating typhoon thanks to a buoyant sofa.
She was also fortunate enough to have been rescued by the HSMO Disaster Response Team. They found Soshe just in the nick of time. If it were not for them, Soshe might have perished due to hunger, dehydration, and even immense stress.
For dog owners, it is important to always be prepared for natural disasters. Preparations should put into consideration the canine members of your family. Dogs should never be abandoned during calamitous events.
There are dog shelters and even dog hotels that would gladly welcome them during these events.
