According to scientific studies, dogs have an extra sensitive sense of smell.
This is the reason why they can sense if something is wrong and are said to detect any upcoming danger. By considering this fact, a pet owner figured out just what to do to behave a startled and anxious dog during his doctor’s appointment.
Sonya Schiff, who lives in London, is a dog mom to Rupert who she adopted from a Dog Trust shelter. Based on her story, it took her almost one year to build rapport with him since he had some painful experience in the past which might have caused him some trauma. He tends to have hostile and aggressive tendencies towards strangers along with his fear of separation from his dog mom.
The problem was that, Rupert needs to be checked by a doctor because he needs to have surgery, the only way he can get better.
The doctor has a challenging time dealing with him, he can’t take a careful look at him because of his guarding attitude.
Good thing was that Sonya just got a brilliant idea.
He made the doctor dress up in a mouse costume. Rupert was so used to snuggling the piece of the coat and is very special to him that he sleeps with it most of the time.
When Dr. Ferrell showed up as a huge mouse with the adorable, black snout, Rupert had a change of heart. He instantly turned into a sweet and friendly dog and snuggled the amused doctor.
With the help of the mouse costume, he was able to have ample time to examine the now cuddly and comfortable pup.
Thankfully, he was able to undergo a leg surgery with Dr. Ferrell whom he trusts, and it turned out successful. The Dalmatian got diagnosed with cruciate ligament defects along with hip dysplasia.
